Ute Eickelkamp is a socio-cultural anthropologist (PhD Heidelberg University, 2001) and Sandplay therapist. She has conducted long-term ethnographic research with First Nations Anangu families in central Australia on art, children’s play, Christianity and nature, and on perceptions of landscape restoration in Germany’s former coal mining region, the Ruhr district, where she grew up. She has taught at the University of Sydney and isthe recipient of numerous research grants and fellowships, for work that employs participatory research designs, art action and ethnographic analysis.
