Issues is a multilingual journal of short essays, housed at the Institute for Culture and Society, Western Sydney University. We publish essays of 1,500-2,000 words on topics of historical and contemporary relevance. We encourage each author to write in English and one other language. English essays are reviewed by the two editors for at least three rounds, if not more! We also draw upon ICS’ in-house experts to give texts in other languages close scrutiny whenever possible.
We welcome submissions of scholarly research articles and encourage co-authored and collaborative essays. You must write in more than one language to contribute.
Issues is not a current affairs or news blog, and we do not publish news pieces. If you want to write for us, drop us a line with a title and a 100 word abstract to m.sur@westernsydney.edu.au.
All editorial staff are located at the Institute for Culture and Society, Western Sydney University. Editors Malini Sur is an anthropologist and Liam Magee a sociologist of technology. Responsible for design of Volume 2 and design and editorial review of Volumes 3, 4 and 5, Oznur Sahin works in human geography, urban studies, and gender studies.
